Is hardware incompatibility a concern for 12.04 LTS?

Will the System76 driver install in 12.04 LTS?

From what I know System76 does update their drivers for each Ubutnu release. Your laptop will (should) not have incompability problems.

I don't know when the new drivers will be ready for Ubutnu 12.04, but take a look at the Driver page of your laptop model.

Given that "Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit" is the only OS configure option available when ordering new laptops... I'm sure it'll work just fine.

Lemur Ultra 4 (a.k.a. LemU4) is the newst laptop model from System76.
It is just that Ubuntu 12.04 release day is so close that System76 decided to halt delivering laptops so they can offer it with the new Ubuntu.

The "Configure & Buy" page from System76 says:

"System76 products now feature Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Ubuntu 12.04 will be released on Thursday, April 26th. Shipments begin Monday, April 30th. All orders will ship within 5 to 8 business days."

Since your laptop will arrive tomorrow, I recommend you to download and install Ubuntu 12.04 a few days after it is released. After you have installed UBuntu, head over to System76's support, and download the Driver for Lemu4

Got it, thanks! Would it make sense to wait until System76 releases a 12.04 version of their driver before upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04? I imagine that the update tool would recommend updating now, but I could just wait.

Article on this coming shortly, but you're fine to upgrade whenever. If you'll be doing an online upgrade, we recommend waiting a week or two for the most reliable upgrade. If you wanted to do a fresh installation, you're clear to upgrade now. The current versions (2.7.3 and later) of the system76 driver are compatible with 12.04 LTS.
