Re: Netgear WNDA 3100 v2 wireless adapter -- How to install?

I cannot get into my Home directory where my /NetGear_CDfiles/Broadcom_bcm43xx_USB_32_64bit_v2 directories are. I used to be able to see the path in Synaptic. This is not available in the Software Center.

    I am typing:

    cd Home/NetGear_CDfiles/Broadcom_bcm43xx_USB_32_64bit_v2

result: No such file or directory.

I capitalized the correct letters. I feel none too bright right now. I can't even find a directory

Re: Netgear WNDA 3100 v2 wireless adapter -- How to install?

The abbreviation for Home/user in Linux is the tiny, cute ~. So try:
    Code:
    cd ~/NetGear_CDfiles/Broadcom_bcm43xx_USB_32_64bit_v2
Actually, if you are already home, indicated by the ~ on your terminal, you can shortcut with:
    Code:
    cd NetGear_CDfiles/Broadcom_bcm43xx_USB_32_64bit_v2

    Thank you for your help.

    geneva@geneva-desktop:~/NetGear_CDfiles/Broadcom_bcm43xx_USB_32_64bit_v2$ ndiswrapper -l
    bcmn43xx32 : driver installed
    device (0846:9011) present

    geneva@geneva-desktop:~/NetGear_CDfiles/Broadcom_bcm43xx_USB_32_64bit_v2$ iwconfig
    lo no wireless extensions.

    eth0 no wireless extensions.

I went to the "Edit Connections" and added a wireless connection to the Network Connections.

Is now a good time to restart?

See you then. Post back and I'll see your post. Please include:
    Code:
    dmesg | grep ndis
The pipe symbol | is on the right side of my US keyboard on the same key with \. See you then.

Re: Netgear WNDA 3100 v2 wireless adapter -- How to install?

I know this thread says [SOLVED] and it is sort of....
because I have to type in the following every time I restart the computer:

    sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
    --- askes for password

    dmesg | grep ndis

    iwconfig

It takes a minute or two but then the computer is connected to the network. I haven't waited to see if going to sleep will also cause the same problem.

Any reason why Ubuntu will not save this procedure?
