I'm not sure, but try a right click on the taskbar and see if it has a "preferences" where you can specify that. This is how it works on 10.04, anyway.

try a right click on the taskbar
That will be 'Alt+RightClick' or 'Alt+Super+RightClick'.

'Super' is the MS logo key in Windows talk.

Be careful not to delete a one and only Panel [TaskBar] or you will not be able to make a new one, at all easily.

    Chao!, bogan.

Nothing happened when I right clicked on that taskbar, but with the Alt + rightclick, things were happening, and now things are great.

    Thanks everybody for their input.

If you want to take a go at running Unity Desktop.
Here is a helpful poster of the basics, you can download the pdf here:
    http://spreadubuntu.org/en/material/...re/1204-poster

It can take some time to learn, but once orientated it proves to be a very nice desktop environment.

    To each their own.

Is it, objectively speaking, better, then what I have now? Or is it just different, and do you just have to go through all the hassle of learning a new interface, and you don't really get anything out of it?

I'm not a fan of change, I'm running now 12.04, and I hope I can keep on running it for the next five years.
Upgrading every half year is for me a nightmare.

I just installed 12.04 on a new comp, and I have now the new GUI. Now I have again that taskbar on the top, and I would like it to be below.

However, now the "Alt" + "right click" doesn't work.

Anybody any idea how to move that taskbar around?

You may be better off searching then posting a new thread regarding moving the taskbar if you don't find answers. You will increase your chances of getting help as posting about it here will be posting on a thread with an unrelated thread title and the post will be buried eighteen posts deep.
