    Upgrade using the Terminal

How can i upgrade to the newest Ubuntu Version using the Terminal WITHOUT Update-Manager.

"apt-get upgrade" does only install package upgrades but not the new ubuntu version

Use whatever OS or desktop works for you. Dual boot or use VMs if you want. Backup your computer regularly, and definitely before upgrading, partitioning, or installing an OS.
