    Low brightness when Ubuntu starts

Hi. I bought an HP Pavilion laptop recently and installed Ubuntu 11.10 there. But whenever I turn on the laptop, after showing the Ubuntu logo, the screen turns black. But actually it runs with very low brightness. If looked closely, it can be seen that the log in screen is there. I have to hit the brightness button on the laptop (in this laptop, it is the F2 and F3 keys) to adjust the brightness.

But it's a bit annoying to do it every time I start the laptop. Is there a way I can prevent the brightness from resetting to the lowest level every time Ubuntu boots up?

    Thanks.

This looks pretty similar. Do those steps help at all?

Question, do you have brightness problems when using Ubuntu?

Yeah, similar problem, thanks. But I'm a little scared to change grub files. Any other way? Maybe something with the system settings? If not, I will just do the steps in the link.

No. After the brightness is set during the log in screen, it stays perfect while running Ubuntu.

Oh one more thing, the grub screen (where I select the OS to run) has correct brightness. The problem occurs during the log in screen.
