Which software sources should I add?

I installed Debian Squeeze (through the xfce+lxde install CD) on an old box. I had not internet connection during install (only has a Wireless card). So I fixed wireless after installation and now it is connected. However I could not install things like synaptic through apt-get. I found out that I only have the security updates source and the CD in my sources.list. Which sources should I add to get the most basic stuff I'm used to install in *buntu?

Well you are in debian, its not Ubuntu

What do you want that you class as basic ?

usually the default debian source is fine

The only thing i add is contrib non-free

If you have trouble with your sources then try http://debgen.simplylinux.ch/

and here is unofficial repos http://wiki.debian.org/UnofficialRepositories

Thanks. I think Main and Contrib will be enough for now. 'Basic stuff' was a bit of a vague description but I mean things like LibreOffice Writer, Abiword, Synaptic and some small games.
