yeah, amazing isn't it? i think you CAN specify who to send it to, if you like (if you're uptight like that).

(ok, my bad, it should probably be something more like '$mailx -s "subj" you@yourplace.org < stuff.txt', i guess (i usually use the redirect).)

I could do the system administration, but my machine for the majority of the time is used for watching media and other such things that one has to use a GUI for.

As stated earlier, you don't need X to watch a video.
