    Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init

    I have ubuntu 10.04 installed on my desktop and right now it is giving an error message when ever i try to turn it on that says

    Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init
    IM not sure what to do i searched around but there are different answers so that confuses me to what would be best for my one.

    ps could you suggest a way to finish the problem without dataloss

    Could someone please help

    could someone please help ive been waiting for 4 hours and no one replied.....

    i looked up different solutions but im not sure which one would work and i cant risk randomly trying them so could someone please help
