    Question canon imageclass scanner

    Hello everybody.
    I have canon imageclass MF4412 printer/scanner which prints finely but doesn't scan. I have installed drivers from canon support website & also followed some steps explained in some related forum threads. this caused printer to work but scanner doesn't work. some command output shows my usb scanner as detected but 'sane' & 'xsane' utility says no scanner connected.
    what can i do to get it work. this only thing causing me to dual boot with win7.

    Re: canon imageclass scanner

    if you go here

    http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html#Z-CANON

    .......it is the sane page that details Canon support

    it shows the MF4410 as being supported;

    clicking on the pixma backend needed ........takes one to this page..

    http://home.arcor.de/wittawat/pixma/

    and clicking on the sane-pixma link takes one to

    http://www.sane-project.org/man/sane-pixma.5.html

    I wonder if both of these are installed for you..

    ......checking through the link pages above may provide more details;

    I have seen that the MF4410 is said to be fully supported; and I have seen posts where folks report troubles;

    Canon provide a scangear programme for the Mac but not for the linux for this particular printer; scangear is supplied for all inkjet printers now being sold by canon
