Thread: Sound hardware changes every time I lock the screen! Weird!

Sound hardware changes every time I lock the screen! Weird!

This is an utterly bizare problem I can reproduce 100% of the time.

My sound hardware is set to Analgoue Stereo Duplex.

Whenever I lock my screen (using WIN+L) and unlock, the hardware settings change to "Digital Stereo (HDMI) Outful - Analogue Stero Input"!

Which means I have to go to the Sound Settings to reset it.

    W...T...F...????

I'm running 11.10 on a MacBook Pro. Everything else seems to be working normally.

Any idea what's causing it and / or how I can stop it?

I would take a look at your keyboard shortcuts. And maybe reset them.
What keeps the world in chains but your beliefs?
And what can save the world except your Self?
    Belief is powerful indeed.

I also have this problem, but I do not lock the screen manually. Rather, sound hardware is changed when I try to unlock the screen after screen saver timeout. 100% of the time.

I've found what's causing the problem! Whenever my monitor goes to sleep & then turns back on, that's what causes it.

Because my monitor is connected via HDMI, the monitor being "plugged in" turns the sound back to the HDMI connection.

That's what causes it - now, how do I lock it down so it can't change?
