Hi I've been through a lot of different threads here and have already tried a million things but for the life of me can't get wireless working on this dell inspiron 1545. Yesterday my 3 year old Toshiba went up literally in smoke leaving me laptop less until my gf offered me her old dell to use. I pulled my hdd out of my toshiba and installed it on this dell and all was good until i realized i couldn't connect to wireless.
I've run the following commands as i've seen it needed in other threads so here's some info before i list what i've done
lspci -nn gave this as the last line
0c:00.0 Network controller : Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY [14e4:4315] (rev 01)
george@george-Satellite-A305:/$ jockey-text -l
firmware:b43 - Broadcom B43 wireless driver (Proprietary, Disabled, Not in use)
kmod:wl - Broadcom STA wireless driver (Proprietary, Enabled, In use) [auto-install]
Now for a few things i've tried already
Did the easy one go into system > administration > additional drivers and have activated the sta one as you can see from jockey-text -l
did this command sudo rfkill unblock all
and just many other things i'm blanking on
Current situation: Currently if i go off of ethernet and select wifi icon in my top bar it says wireless networks disconnected and that is greyed out
If there's anything else needed let me know but can anyone help me get my wireless working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
