I had to open the program to see what you were talking about.Originally Posted by dragonflyFZX
If the black strip along the bottom of the window is what you're talking about, it's for information about the pointer location and altitude, and about how busy it is regarding streaming data.
If you're talking about the black area above that in the opening screen below the Earth, that's the blackness of space.
Any suggestions on getting it to print? I can print to a PostScript file fine, but I'd like to print directly from GE. The GE print window comes up, but there aren't any printers to choose from. I'm running CUPS on Kubuntu 5.10; all other apps print just fine.
Same for emailing: I followed the GE email readme, and Firefox opens a new tab, but Thunderbird doesn't do anything (i.e. no compose window).
Many thanks,
mike
Thanks for putting this together. I've been wanting to install GE for a while, but was put off by what I thought would be a complicated process. I'm glad that it was so easy and it worked w/o a hitch.
Anyone know how to make google earth play nice with compiz? It's too choppy under compiz? Otherwise, under gnome is as smooth as the windows and os x versions.
Any one who knows how to associate kmz with Google Earth so that the file is opened with an already existing, or if there is no existing a new, Google Earth window? As it is now I have just managed to associate kmz so that everytime I open a kmz-file a new Google Earth window is launched but I want them to be opened in the same window, not a new one.
Yeah, I tried that, doesn't work. I also tried it installing as regular user, same ****.Originally Posted by MetaMorfoziS
I'm using Xgl with compiz and run Google Earth with this trick. You should use it for every application that uses 3D.Originally Posted by domino
But I experienced some (rare) random crashes while moving the view. I don't know if it's due to Xgl or the beta state.
Fonts are not displayed on the map. The menus and tooltips work, but instead of city names, etc. on the map, there are only white squares.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Edit: Works after restart.
