Same problem here with an ATI Rage 128 (Fury Pro) card...
I've got a stupid problem:
when i run googlearth it reports symlink: Permission denied??? running it as root works great, but still.
I debugged for a while and it seems that/usr/local/google-earth/googleearth-bin causes this fault?
Thanks,
it can be useful at times
i've this error:
error code 29
"not connected to server"
"chek is your conection"
mm.. my connection is god! i can see the web pages, no problem!
help!
Fantastic double thank you

I've got a little problem. I was able to download it just fine from terminal (Xubuntu), and it says it installs just fine (also in terminal), but then there's nothing for me to launch! How exactly do you turn it on, and how can I make Xubuntu stop opening the .bin file in the archive manager?
I get start-up crash using Dapper.
I tried running
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.10
as described in the GoogleEarth README but that didn't help.
Problem may be Nvidia driver related as I have this video card
nVidia Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX 4000 AGP 8x] (rev a4)
I don't have any special Nvidia drivers installed just vanilla Dapper install.
I can't figure out how to increase fonts in menu. They are too small and hard to read. Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks!
now I got it to get to installing menu entries and it's been hanging there for about 30 mins. My powerbook won't even get that far...
