Install Google Earth

The linux version of google earth has just been released so heres how to get it!

1. Open up a terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal)
2. Type in the following:

Code:
wget http://dl.google.com/earth/GE4/GoogleEarthLinux.bin
sh GoogleEarthLinux.bin
The rest of the install is self explanatory, have fun!

Re: Install Google Earth

Wow, thanks.

I've been trying to get it working, new to Linux, was trying for ages with Wine, running the Windows version with no luck, this is much easier to install!! Although it's a little slow, maybe that's my drivers...

Re: Install Google Earth

To uninstall Google Earth go to your home directory or wherever you installed Google Earth at. There should be a folder there called google-earth. Click on that folder and in it you should find a uninstall script.

Re: Install Google Earth

I can get Google Earth to start, but it always quits in the middle of setup, with this error message in the Terminal:

Installing desktop menu entries...
Error: Rage 128 timed out... exiting
Suggestions?

Re: Install Google Earth

Think I've got my drivers sorted out - it now runs smoothly (I said it ran slow in my post earlier)... but it crashes randomly, with no warnings. Any idea what the problem there is? Not a big deal, no problem to restart, just wondering what could cause it...
