Can't get internet to work on Toshiba Satellite C655

Hey, I have exhausted my knowledge to try and solve this issue. I'm using 11.04 and have no idea where to begin. So, ask what you need to know and thanks in advance for the help.

The very first thing I would do, as it is what the vast majority of us do when providing help, is a google search with:

ubuntu 11.04 toshiba satellite c655 internet (or perhaps you mean wireless?)

The second thing is information we need before we can help you:

    - open a terminal window and type (press enter after each line):

    lspci > dwetest.txt
    lsusb >> dwetest.txt
    lshw -C network >> dwetest.txt
    ifconfig >> dwetest.txt
    iwconfig >> dwetest.txt

    Close the terminal window.

Using the GUI file explorer, copy the file "dwetest.txt" from your home folder to a flash drive (or if you dual-boot Windows, copy it to somewhere on your Windows drive).

Now you should be able to get on the internet somewhere (like where you are posting from), reply back here and attach the file to your post.

And, I did mean wireless. Sorry about that, haha.

Since they haven't made it over here yet, let's keep going.
    Try the following:

    sudo modprobe -r acer_wmi

This will hopefully be all it takes (pay no attention that it says "acer"). If your wireless starts working (until your next reboot), post back and we'll make it permanent.

If that doesn't work, then please post the output of:

    lsmod

back here in a reply. That will let us know what modules are being loaded, including the driver it thinks it should use for your wireless.

    We can go from there.

Thanks for the help!! You've probably noticed I don't claim to be an expert at anything, but if I dig around enough I can usually come up with something that works, but having someone who is an expert in an area makes it real handy for someone getting their answer quicker - and I get to learn something to put in the back of the ol' noggin for later!
