Its happening for me only in Youtube. Other flash sites seems to be working fine.
Also, if you go to the fullscreen, this goes away. Also, going fullscreen does not work seamlessly now. Dunno why.

Buy a Linux PC, learn about Linux and get more Ubuntu software
For me, the fix worked for firefox, but chrome still shows the blue color on all videos. Do I need to replace the libflashplayer.so in some folder which contains chrome plugins as well?

Same here on two versions of Ubuntu; 10.04 and Xubuntu 11.10. No flash at all where expected. This happed when updating to the latest flash security update.
Perfect and thanks for the solution Peter.
Here all PCs in my family got 10.04 and they reported me the problem today after updates done this week.
( note I tested without success via 'flash aid' extension for firefox : Flash beta / flash stable / Gnash + I tested also everything in Synaptic : force version back / install other package
Thanks, LovingLinux. Shutting off the hardware acceleration solved the problem in chrome. Perfect!
