    Brasero is broken!

Has anyone had a good experience with Brasero?
I have never had much success with it. Why is it so terrible in comparison to k3b? Why is it included as the default burner when it is simply terrible?

I've never had real troubles with Brasero itself, just things I did to it errantly. I've burned countless audio discs, video discs and .iso images successfully, all using Brasero. What exactly is your question? Your post is kind of vague.

    A recent issue on 11.10..
11.10 is not auto-mounting the DVD-R(W) after it is burnt..

This leads you into thinking the burn failed & brassero reports an error ejecting the disc.
If you mount the disc from terminal then can check the burn has succeeded.
Make sure your 'user' is a member of cdrom group.

No, it's just a terrible piece of software. I have problems on multiple computers. Install k3b and everything works perfectly; why does k3b work on the exact same hardware doing the exact same burn?
I think k3b should replace Brasero as the default burner because it just works. Who cares that it doesn't have the gtk interface. It doesn't look too out of place.
Brasero is a dismal piece of **** software and has been for a long time. It has major problems on a large range of hardware and this is a big problem considering the aim of Ubuntu is ease of use.

That's wonderful but again I pose the question; why does brasero fail to work on so many different machines that k3b does work on?

    I don't know But I remember that I had tested k3b and I didn't like its interface

I guess "use whatever it works for you"?

    Re: Brasero is broken!

Brasero has always worked fine for me when creating ISOs, but with DVDs it has given me dozens of handy coasters. I think the reason Ubuntu doesn't use K3B is because that depends on KDE packages, and putting all of those in by default would bloat the CD too much (700MB limit, remember).

I am tired of Brasero, it ruined many of my CD/DVD's.
I am now happy with Imgburn run inside VirtualBoxed XP.

Using Lbuntu 11.10 and Brasero works just fine. Could not get k3b to work at all. Gave all sorts of error messages and crashed alot.
