    graphing x^x

could any one tell me how to graph x^x in a 3d grapher where y=x^x and z= the imaginary component of y=x^x when x<0

There's a rather instant problem here. "the imaginary componement"-computers don't like i to start with, if you try and graph it, it will either crash or do straight lines.

Personally, I think I'd use gnuplot.

This might be what your looking for-

    http://www.math.uri.edu/~bkaskosz/flashmo/graph3d/

I think X>0 is at the bottom of the graph......

    Another good website:

I thought (not sure) maybe a good Graphing Program would do the calculation and give the result for you after putting in the equation-
    Hope this helps.

Gnuplot is great but I doubt gnuplot can do this. Maybe Matlab or Octave?

Wait maybe gnuplot could do it if you first calculate enough points somewhere and then you feed gnuplot the discrete points rather than a function.

By doing that you may also first see if it is "plottable" at all.

If you succeed, can you please share? I am dying to see the plot.
