    Praat will not display spectrograms

I'm trying to get Praat to run correctly on Ubuntu 10.10. It seems that there are major compatibility issues between Praat and PulseAudio. However, after jumping that hurtle and finally getting Praat to play sound, I still cannot see a spectrogram display in the edit window. Praat seems to be able to read the sound file as it will play it and also give statistics on formants, pitch, intensity etc but I cannot see the actual spectrogram display.

    I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 and Praat 5.1.44.

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Same problem here. I've got no idea how to solve it.

For the moment, I am running Praat from the windows binary using wine. It does the job well enough. I have full functionality of praat now. But I would prefer to run Praat from Ubuntu, rather than use an emulator.

hi,i know the problem was posted a long time ago, but did you check whether you opened the sound file as a longsound or a sound file? i am not sure about the background, but this just happened to me, and opening the file as a soundfile solved it for me.
