Hey guys, I am wanting to install Ubuntu to an External HDD and I would like to take that External HDD between more than one computer using Ubuntu on each. Is something like that possible?

The short answer is Yes. I have Linux Mint 11 installed on a Seagate FreeAgent "GoFlex" 500GB external USB HD. Had no problem installing it and useing it on either the Desktop PC (Ubuntu 10.04) or the Toshiba Qosmio Laptop (Windows 7).

OK Just checking because I tried this before with two different Hard Drives and they both ended up with bad sectors shortly after plugging them into my laptop with Ubuntu installed on them.
I think it was the laptop's fault though as it was already having HDD issues and hardware failure. Just wanted to be sure before I tried it again and messed up yet another HDD. Thanks.
