    What version did you build? I notice there is a 9-11-2012 version here. You might repeat the steps with the presumably improved version. Note any warnings at the 'make' stage and we'll try to fix them.

    Re: WNDA 4100 (NetGear N900) Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

    Honestly if you or anyone has a wireless USB adapter i could look for at Best Buy that would work easier I'm headed to the city tomarrow. Im running Ubuntu 12.4 LTS to be clear and i will need to run at gaming speeds. It also needs to be able to reach through a floor..

    Unless of course this is an east fix in which case il do that instead.

    Re: WNDA 4100 (NetGear N900) Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

    I haden't noticed your previous post before i had posted me last one..my apologies for the double post.

    I downloaded the top file from the link you last sent me and have been following the steps as previously. It already had "Netgear" in the bit you had us add it previously but instead it had it labled exactly by name.

    Code:
    #endif /* RT35xx */
    #ifdef RT3573
    	{USB_DEVICE(0x148F,0x3573)}, /* Ralink 3573 */
    	{USB_DEVICE(0x7392,0x7733)}, /* Edimax */
    	{USB_DEVICE(0x0846,0x9012)}, /* Netgear */
    	{USB_DEVICE(0x0B05,0x17AD)}, /*ASUS */
    #endif /* RT3573 */
    	{ }/* Terminating entry */
    Here is the Dump from the Make command

    Code:

    Sorry if this is too much info or too many posts.
    Not at all, no problem at all.
    I'm not sure if it will work exactly
    There's only one way to find out:
    Code:
    sudo su
    make install
    modprobe rt3573sta
    exit
    iwconfig
    Does it connect?

    Re: WNDA 4100 (NetGear N900) Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

    It did connect but i'm not sure if it changed anything at all. I was using the Adapter while i was doing all of that which..im not sure if was a problem. i didn't even lose connection for a second when i modprobe'd

    Also tested on a game and still wobbly connection speed. I'm actually on my windows ATM Just Freshly installed 8 and im downloading a rather large file now and getting some wierd connection as well. Can't tell if it's the source of my download currently or something with the dongle.

    I was connected directly to the modem earlier today with a different laptop with..no noticeable problems...I was also connected by sharing the connection with said laptop by having the laptop connected to the wireless and myself plugging into the laptop with an ethernet cable and had a stable connection..so i'm assuming it's either the dongle itself or the drivers...Seeing as how i may be having trouble with it not on a fresh windows install...it's got me thinking it's probably the dongle itself.

    This Linux troubleshooting can't hurt though.

    What's strange about the whole thing is that if i run a speed test at Speedtest.net it comes up with normal speeds for my internet connection when it's working properly..

    Re: WNDA 4100 (NetGear N900) Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

    I want to bump this thread, I'm really new to Linux and Ubuntu. I've got it running on my laptop pretty well right now, but I want to get it running on my desktop. I'm going to be learning Unix shell and Programming, and most likely using some distro of linux to do so. I've got a $60 Wifi card that is basically unusable in Ubuntu. I've read through this thread and though a few solutions were posted, I wasn't exactly sure how to implement them.

    Is there a way to get this working on my desktop? If so, can you guys guide me through getting it working?

    Sorry if this is demanding, but I don't want to have to go and spend more money just for a Wifi connection when I've got a perfectly good card right in front of me.

    Thanks so much guys!
    Daniel.

    You may try the RT5572 driver Version 2.6.1.3.

    I gotta be tripping out, on that page it seems like there's no way to download the file. I clicked on the text and it brings me to a page with no download link, and I tried clicking the floppy and it brings me to a page that has no release information when it should lol.

    I searched around the internet and couldn't find anything that didn't link me to this page also.

    I'm such a noob I'm sorry.

    Klick on the driver name. Then you have to confirm the licence (scroll down)

    You also have to enter a name and email address. It doesn't look like they have to be real.
