    Installing Photoshop

    I am using this page.
    http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/idiots-...5-ubuntu-1004/

Everything went well when installing WINE.

If you scroll to the header "Installing Photoshop" you will see where I got stumped. On that page I read
It’s best to familiarise yourself with Wine a bit, so go to Applications then Wine and notice you have your very own virtual C: drive. Open her up (Browse C: Drive) and navigate your way to C:\Windows\System32.
More specifically, I got stuck here.

"Go to Applications"? How do I do that? I do not see anything on Ubuntu called "Applications". Does this simply mean to open the file explorer? If so, there is absolutely nothing different as far as I can tell. Here is what I see.

When I highlight "File System" in the menu on the left, I do not see anything called C: and I do not see C: anywhere in the menu itself. Should I be looking elsewhere?

Are you on Ubuntu 10.04, or are you perhaps on 11.04 or 11.10?

The newer versions of ubuntu that use the unity desktop don't have the "applications" menu anymore.

At a guess, you would have to type "wine" in the search box in the dash to find Wine quickly. The slower way would be via the "more applications" button, or whatever that is called. My system is set to German, and that is the closest translation that occurs to me.

    Re: Installing Photoshop

I am using Ubuntu 11.10. I opened the Dash and typed "wine" (without quotes). Three icons came up under "Applications". They were called:
    1. "Configure Wine"
    2. "Uninstall Wine Software"
    3. "Winetricks"

I already have Windows XP installed on the same hard drive, so it is hard to tell whether anything changed. I just don't understand where the tutorial is telling me to go in order to get Photoshop working.

I tried to open the EXE file and a message box said
    Cabinet is not valid.
    Any idea what that means?

    Re: Installing Photoshop

What version of Photoshop are you trying to install?

IF it's anything other than the old version 7.0 or the new version CS5, you're wasting your time:

    Ubuntu 20.04, Mint 19.10; MS Win10 Pro.
