    Meaning of symbol

Ok, I'm curious about what exactly does this symbol mean. When you are installing Ubuntu and you see the rectangle equals man, what does it mean?

I think it's for accessibility options, like on screen keyboard.

Ok. I just thought that there might have been some special meaning like the keyboard is equivalent to the man's ability to do anything.

The rectangle is supposed to be a keyboard, and I think the whole symbol is supposed to mean "manual input via keyboard".

I think that the drawing of a man in a circle is taken from a sketch made by some famous Italian artist who drew a man in circle to show that the human body had certain proportions.

The image here is being used to represent accessibility or access options for those with seeing, hearing and typing difficulties. There are some settings under this symbol in System Settings.

Vitruvian Man, by Leonardo Da Vinci. Drawn backwards, of course.

But yes, it shows "ideal" proportions.

However, I think the Vitruvian Man has in more recent times come to symbolize humanity as a whole. Maybe this harkens back to the Voyager Golden Record?

I never thought about it looking like Vitruvian Man.
