    iPad support

    Hey all,

I am considering to purchase an iPad 3 (to be launched on 23 March in my country). Those specs are pretty amazing

But, of course, the important question is how well are iPads supported on Linux these days? Can I manage the content? Can I make backups? Can I do other stuff?

And, in comparison, how is Android support? My "fall back" choice, if the iPad wouldn't be a good choice after all, would be the Asus Transformer Prime.

So, does anyone has experience with either the Asus or the iPad?

So, 116 views and 19 hours later and no one has any answer?

I figured there would be more iPad owners

Unfortunately, the iPad 3 is a completely new piece of hardware, so there's no knowing for sure how it will work.

Based on how my iPod Touch works on Ubuntu, I can view my pictures in Shotwell and listen to my music in Banshee. This is iOS 4, however, so I can't speak for any iOS 5 devices.

iOS backups aren't supported in Linux at all currently. You're stuck either using another computer for that, or iCloud.

That is a pity. And iCloud, despite its marketing as such, isn't really a reliable backup.

I think I'm going for the Asus then.
