Re: Your stories? I've given up on 6-year effort to replace Windows with Linux
To quell this issue, here you go:

Frankly speaking, I don't care much for all this talk about "bad UI design and bad hardware support"... The latter is a manufacturer problem, not a GNU/Linux problem, and the fact that we continually reverse engineer stuff to work on Linux is a testament to how magnificent this endeavor is (take a look at the ipod... In my opinion, GTKpod works much better than iTunes even today). The former - Ubuntu is trying to do something revolutionary with the UI paradigm, and we are getting there (check out the HUD)... If you don't like it, the other usable number of UI's ranks in the high double digits.
EDIT: And by the way... sans Windows for four years now, and never felt the need or the inclination to go back. Use case: I code, make presentations, edit photos, edit videos, and pretty much everything else under the sun. GNU/Linux is just a superior paradigm - philosophically, as well as technologically, period.

Be formless, shapeless... like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup; you put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; if you put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot... Now water can flow, or it can crash... Be water my friend
