Wine and internet

Hi out there. I've got a problem as I've installed a program that needs verification via internet, but when I try to do said verification Winw complains that it need a connection to do it

Obviously it's some setting that needs a tweak, but which and where?
any help?

Without knowing the program you're talking about, it's nearly impossible to help you. You may consider giving more information.

It's a form of pdf file as an .exe .. a manual for constructing a bit for my car. It works as intended when starting in windows, but it's pretty annoying having to start up in windows just to read the manual.

need more info?

might it be some dll or similar that's missing in a standard wine install and therefore missing as opposed to windows.?

aren't there really anybody who can lend a hand in getting this damn file to access the internet? the install and program is basically just a .exe
I can't figure out what it is that it's needing in wine but gets when in Windows.
The verification thingie just claims that no internet is available .. though it IS.
