    Lost IM messages

    Greetings,

A version or two ago I discovered that I was sporadically losing messages when using Pidgin and Empathy. This, coupled with a few other niggles made me install Fedora; that was fine, until my HD failed.

I decided to try 11.10 on a new drive, but I notice that the same thing is happening. It's a completely fresh install, and I can see no pattern. If a chat window is open, I will always get the messages sent; if not, there's a good chance it will never reach me. I am assuming that this is a network-based issue, but it only happens on Ubuntu.

I can't be the only one experiencing this (I've seen old issues that were similar), so does anyone have some suggestions?

For the time being it is working, although I've gutted the system of telepathy components. I'll mark this as solved in the unlikely event that it continues to work.

That seems to have fixed it; so I'm marking this as solved.
