After trying everything to get my WiFi Router Contrend CT 536 + works with Ubuntu (WIFI I mean), and failing each time, exhausted, perhaps the problem is in some drivers for Linux required to get the WiFI Contrend works in Linux.

WiFi works perfectly in WIndows; and ethernet even with Ubuntu Linux, but not the wireless connection.

Please, do you know where I can download these drivers for COmtrend in Linux?

    Thanks

Have you tried doing it through "ndisgtk" in the repositories. If you have the Windows driver you can install it through ndisgtk. Likely the XP driver will work.

I've tried it, but all drivers in the Windows DVD are not accepted, even the XP one. Is there any site with these drivers for Linux?

Curiously, Ubuntu Wireless detects other routers, but not mine.

    Thanks

you wouldnt "usually" use a driver for a router.

A wireless router just sends out a signal which your wireless device picks up.

You may need a driver for your device but not the router itself.

Thanks for your information. So, what can I do? I have an HP pavilion dv6500 and an HP notebook Mini 110 1146ss. I infer, according to what you say, that the problem is Hewlett Packard and not COmtrend. Do you know any way to solve it?

    Thanks a lot

well all we have so far is you saying your wireless does not work.

    We need more information.

You cant see the wireless connection ?
You can see it but cant connect ?
    Error messages ?
    Is it WPA/WPA2 ?
have you tried manually adding the connection ?
is the SSID broadcasting or hidden ?

    etc etc

    We need more information.

You cant see the wireless connection ? No, I can't
You can see it but cant connect ? I can see other routers around, but the open ones don't really work either.
Error messages ? No error messages
Is it WPA/WPA2 ? No. Rather 128 bits WEP
have you tried manually adding the connection ? Of course.
is the SSID broadcasting or hidden ? It is not hidden, or shouldn't be. When in Windows, the WiFi works perfectly.

Thanks for your concern. Whatever else you might need, please, ask me.
