Currently there's a bug with Ubuntu 12.10 and the ATI drivers... (Check the bug report : https://bugs.launchpad.net/fglrx/+bug/1068661)
I tried the fglrx drivers in official Ubuntu repositories (which worked for Ubuntu 12.04) and followed this guide and tried the drivers 12.8, 12.9 and even 12.4... Nothing worked!
I also couldn't get anything working with 12.10. This depresses me.
(Vostro 3550 / AMD 6630M)
I tried with this solution: http://www.ubuntuvibes.com/2012/10/h...st-legacy.html
with latest Catalyst 12.08 / 12.09 / 12.10 but the result is the same, not working
Do I have to back to 12.04 ... ?
It was the same when 12.04 came out at first. We should just be patient while the gurus are at work trying to solve this.
Working BEAUTIFULLY on a Clevo P170EM/7970M in 12.04 with Catalyst 12.10. Only problem is that suspend/resume seems a little wonky now...
Can i install ubuntu 12.04, follow this step to install switchable grapchics and then upgrade to ubuntu 12.10? I will lost the drivers compatibility?
Okay Guys, I think I traveled through half the internet without finding a solution. I installed both Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 on my Dell Vostro 3350 and deactivating the AMD GPU just worked fine with switcheroo. BUT... now that Unity has to run on the Intel Card I get heavy window flickering when browsing the internet i.e. Same happens within Gnome 3, Gnome Classic and Gnome Classic 2D. The strange thing is: KDE works just fine without any flickering. The moment I reactivate the dedicated AMD GPU, the flickering is gone.
Anyone got a solution to this, because I can't find any.
Thanks guys..
