Can you also give the output of this command?
    lspci -nn|grep -i vga

    Re: AMD/Intel Hybrid Graphics works

Today I went to reboot my laptop and it's frozen on a strange reboot black screen with Ubuntu Points counting down and up. Seems a Segmentation Fault

I just could reboot it turning off and on again by pressing Power button.

Then I just observed that it's happening every time I reboot or shutdown my laptop.

    is someone with same problem?

I am glad Andrikos is still monitoring this site, it gives me hope.

A note regarding the open source radeon drivers which has finally at least got 50% functionality in my Intel/Amd Kubuntu, fglrx 0% functional with EVERYTHING trued and retried over and over ....

anyway back to the point, the new upcoming linux kernel 3.8 has continued to improve the Radeon driver with renewed optimism,
    here are some quotes:

Story just appeared on Slashdot (no comments yet) at:

Comments ought to be interesting when they arrive. Meanwhile, the /.
    story links to this:

    Re: AMD/Intel Hybrid Graphics works

I tried this on my new setup with Linux Mint, and I'm experiencing terrible battery life. Around 60-70 minutes on a full charge on integrated GPU. And my laptop seems to be getting heated up as well, with little or no use.

Any further steps I can take to improve battery and thermal performance?

if you have intel/amd turn off your amd card, i have hope ubuntu 13.04 with kernel 3.8 brings hybrid graphics support (a working solution ofc)

    Re: AMD/Intel Hybrid Graphics works

For those tried my PPA (both fglrx + intel packages) and still having X server crashing (low graphics mode) make sure that you have no other X related third party PPAs enabled (There was a case with a guy using the intel driver from xorg-edgers).

If you want to improve battery life and eliminate heating problem, install fglrx and use the intel gpu (amdconfig --px-igpu).
Beware that this has a bug and X-server might crash on every second reboot and/or after resume.
This bug and a workaround can be seen here:
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/fglrx/+bug/1088220

If you want to use the intel GPU but without fglrx then use vgaswitcheroo in order to switch off the discrete cpu.

I think the problem is this:
    Code:
(WW) PowerXpress feature is not supported on A+I Mux platform. Please uninstall fglrx driver.
(EE) this is a Muxless PX A+I platform, we doesn't supported it
    (EE) No devices detected.
What do you get when you run?
    Code:
    dpkg --list "fglrx*" xserver-xorg-video-intel "xserver*core" "xorg-server*"
