Scratch my above comment, works just fine with BastiFantasti's instructions and the versions from Quantal Updates.

For reference, this is a Sony Vaio with AMD66xx discrete gpu and Sandy Bridge integrated GPU.

I get 242.279 FPS in glxgears!

build xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.21.6-0ubuntu4_amd64 who normally works with the latest fglrx driver (defaul enabled uxa acceleration, and not sna)https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0tT...it?usp=sharing

This version works with integrated graphics, but with UXA I get screen tearing in the gnome-shell expose, and with both UXA and SNA external displays won't work.

Could you please specify what graphic card you're using?

Yes, xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.20.9-0ubuntu2.1) works. I installed it last night & all has been good (except for flickering when I plugged in my external monitor, but that's probably a different issue).

Drew, can you confirm that both cards work? And are you able to use your external monitor with the intel card?

Are you using the 13.4 catalyst driver from the website?

In my case (similar to Drew's) I am able to use both cards (not at the same time). No OpenGL acceleration with Intel (but I haven't looked a lot into how to enable it). I haven't tested whether external screen worked with Intel.
With the discrete GPU (using Catalyst 13.4), external screen works, but it seems I cannot switch back to the laptop screen after.
