    Question Question about Novell Moonlight

    Hello Ubuntero's,

Today i was going to install the moonlight-plugin untill i read this in the confirmationscreen: It has access to all data on the pc and to every visited website.
What is this, if i may ask here?
Is this real open-source software? Does this mean we give them license to use our own crafted files? I can't find much on this, that is why i ask here. Where is the proof of license? Maybe just some more explanation (on their site too)about what kind of access they mean would help me click install.

I also think of the possabillities when this plugin is installed on smarttv's. When you have perfectly setup your sharings with your non silver/moonlight pc though network, the software can just access anything mounted on the tv.

I really hope i am totally wrong with this and that i can safely install it.

    Happy Ubuntu times!

    Re: Question about Novell Moonlight

I am sorry if i did not post this correctly and i don't want to sent the wrong message either. Just some explanation would really help. If i want its sourcecode it can proberbly be done but it could be more easy in reach, this install way is not how i'm used to it. That is also the reason why i posted this in security. I just hope someone has a clearifying answer.

    Happy and safe Ubuntuïng

No clue about that but I'm pretty sure it's a dead project.

    Re: Question about Novell Moonlight

Moonlight is just the open-source implementation of Microsoft Silverlight. It is not malicious in any sense. I will warn you though, that it can't playback DRM content. Not that it matters much, since Moonlight is now dead and the official Silverlight will be following soon.
