Computer turns on and off, wont load OS

Once I connect the power cord it starts up, but shuts down right away, but it keeps restarting and shutting down. It does this until I unplug it.

I was told elsewhere to try resetting CMOS, but that didn't work. I even took the battery out, and replaced it with a new battery.

I noticed I was able to get my DVD drive to light up, but it wasn't for long. How would I check to see if it was a short on the motherboard?

I'm just thinking about purchasing this cheap computer and installed Ubuntu 10.04 on it: http://www.2computerdeals.com/item/c...-/lid=11754490

But I need to know if I can put my SATA HDD in there as well as my current writable DVD drive? I can't stand not having a DVD drive. haha!

I don't really need a computer for gaming. Just for general usage like surfing the web, listening to music, and watching videos.

I think the computer in link #1 is too old to support SATA. The computers in links 2 and 3 would be better.

Alright. I'll look more into the other towers. Might just get the $199 one just to have the better model. Thanks for pointing it out though.
