    Sound card issue

This will be the first of 4-5 issues I'm having, but I figured I would go one at a time.
Background: Windows corrupted so I switched to Ubuntu 2 weeks ago. Computer will only be used for Hulu, Netflix, DVD/BR. Sound card is a Diamond 7.1. After a week of googling and reading, I found one post that worked out of 2 million to get my sound to work through the card(I'm not even going to attempt to get it to work through the HDMI after reading about it). No issues after that it worked great even though I had no access to the Diamond software. After much frustration on some other issues, I gave up on Ubuntu and switched to Myth after learning about it. (Linux isn't as user friendly as I thought it would be) Sound card is now not detected and after another weekend spent looking for answers I find my self here searching for help. I tried the same method as before with no luck. Please don't refer me to https://help.ubuntu.com/11.10/ubuntu...d-nosound.html as I have gone through it and come up empty handed(This seems to be the default reply to these issues). Thank you for your time your help will be greatly appreciated.
