As far as I'm aware, RMS doesn't doesn't have an account here. And even that wasn't an insult, just pointing out his choice in software.

And I certainly wasn't insulting the person I was replying to, just pointing out that there is a way around his disability, and he would be much better received by the community for using it.

Whether RMS has an account here has no bearing on whether you should be respectful or not. You may have meant to help, but the tone of your post doesn't come off that way, perhaps if you had used different phrasing this wouldn't have happened.
