My little laptop in the kitchen when trying to watch HD gives me 2 screens split across the middle that update very very slowly, takes ages to get it to change off the HD channel.

I've not played too much as I was busy with the card issues.
Does the laptop run an ATI card? If so switch to a different deinterlacer.

I upgraded my old Nvidia 9400GTto a fanless GT520, to get VDPAU working properly.
The 9400gt could only get slim VDPAU without tearing, but the 520 has no problem. I'm on the latest drivers now as well
    Code:
    sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
The old IBM thinkpad in the kitchen has the problem with the HD feeds, I probably need to set up it's screen better.
Not tried WIFI but I guess even 802n would be too slow.

I thinks it's got intel graphics, will look
