    Question ALSA Problems

    Hello !

Ever since Pulsaudio was released it was the first thing I've removed and was very happy with ALSA.
A few days ago I wanted to try Pulsaudio but it messed up my system sound.
Even after removing Pulsaudio I can't hear sound in most apps.

What I did notice that if I play Heroes of Newerth AND select ALSA as the sound device in game - then it works fine (in that specific game).
But not all games have the option to select your sound driver.
Also VLC, Amarok and all other programs no longer make any sounds (they play the tracks but it's silent).

I'vr checked the Volume Control and all seems fine.

How can I force my System to use ALSA.

    Thanks.

    Re: ALSA Problems

Sometimes when I fiddle with sound settings, some things can spontaneously mute out for no apparent reason.

Do you have the ALSA Mixer installed? I've often solved audio problems simply by opening that up and unmuting or changing things there, even though I thought those settings were available elsewhere (such as in Volume Control).

    Have you tried reinstalling ALSA?

    Re: ALSA Problems

The Alsa Mixer looks fine, nothing is muted and the volume is up.
And I have reinstalled ALSA a few times - but it didn't help.
