    Pidgin 2.10.0 SSL Connection Failed

    Hi..

    I use Lubuntu 11.10 oneiric.

I've googled for what seems to be hours and tried everything, including using HTTP with 127.0.0.1 and port 4001 but no matter what settings I choose, I get SSL connection failed.

I don't use a router and have the gufw on. "Incoming deny" and "outgoing allow".

I have a Gmail account and am trying to connect to Google Talk.

    Protocol: XMPP
Username: My gmail account (without @gmail.com)
    Domain: gmail.com
    Resource: Home

    Under the advanced tab:

    Connection security: Use old-style SSL
    Connect port: 5223
    Connect server: talk.google.com
    File transfer proxies: proxy.eu.jabber.org
    BOSH URL: (blank)

    Under the proxy tab:

    Proxy type: HTTP
    Host: 127.0.0.1
    Port: 4001
    Username: (blank)
    Password: (blank)

Sometimes it would connect, but I could not add any buddies as it and all other options were greyed out.

Then the SSL connection failed error will pop up or "not authorized".

Gtalk works fine in my Gmail account though.

I tried every suggestion on ubuntuforums and other linux forums, including Pidgin's support and nothing works.

I appreciate any help. I think we aren't alone with this problem.

Much thanks in advance. I greatly appreciate it.
