Is there a way to install widgets like the ones found on OS X and Windows Vista? Maybe on a separate desktop or whatever. I have been looking aroung but I have not found a serious answer.
I will appreciate your help.
Thank you.

KDE has that feature.
What sort of widgets are you looking for? There are various items you can add to your panel, people have done some amazing things with "Conky" but if your looking for specific things please tell us and we can help you.

Screenlets are what you want. Conky is nice (I use it) but it is text only and much harder to use.
