    Wireless card issues

I have just installed a TP-Link TL-WN350GD in an oldish computer that I want to use as a file server / htpc. This card is listed on the madwifi site as working "out of the box" and as soon as I plugged it in and booted up it was finding networks and allowing connections. The issue I have now is that it shows as connected but after some time or after a certain amount of data transferred it just stops, still shows a connection but cannot actually get anything to load or download. Cycling networking on and off seems to reset temporarily but will repeat soon enough.

    I am running 10.04 LTS.

Fairly novice at this sort of thing and any help is always appreciated.

This has happened to me, and unplugging the power on my modem and router seemed to have helped. Can't hurt to try. Sometimes they just need resetting.

Will try it tomorow, I have already done a reset through the routers login page though and it doesn't affect any of the other computers on the network.

    Re: Wireless card issues

No joy with a hard reset on the router, any thing else I can try ?

Edit : It now seems to slow down the rest of the network as well, not completely stopping it but very close. and then as soon as I turn off the Ubuntu box it speeds right up again.

    Re: Wireless card issues

Is switching the PCI slot likely to help?
And is this more likely to be caused by the router or the machine?
