How to install a Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000?

    Hi all
I have a Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 and I'm trying to find out how to install it for Ubuntu. Logitech doesn't support Linux.

Some users have made suggestions like these: http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca50x/Investigation/uvc/

While others say it could take a afternoon to get it running.

I could simply follow script offered by users but I am as n00b as it gets meaning if I do, and I break something, then I'm in trouble.

Any help is appreciated. I'll post anything I find.

    Thanks!

Just to clarify: You are using Ubuntu 11.10 and you have tried viewing your webcam image with "Cheese"?
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.

Sorry for the slow update. The webcam works without intervention. I'm guessing it had native support. Works in Google+, various IM clients and so on.
    Thanks
