Angry MacBook 2.1 (obviously) EFI corrupted

    Hi all,

i registered here in hope that one of you might can help me!

my beloved MacBook 2.1 white (1.8Ghz; 2GB) can't boot anymore after a Ubuntu EFI installation. That's what happened:

I used this method for installation:
    http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Live-USB_Apple
which completed without any problems, installation-volume was the partition i created in MacOSX before I started the process.

But then after the first restart: the white status LED starts to glow but no chime/startsound and the monitor stays black. All you hear when turning it on is the HD spinning, the fans, and the optical drive initializing.

But why? What have I done wrong?

    Did Ubuntu destroy the Firmware?

    What I tried so far:
    SMC-reset
    PRAM-reset
attached the HD to another computer formatted it in hope that, when the ubuntu installation is gone, everything will be fine again - but nothing
pressing the powerbutton until the LED starts flashing - again nothing
Changing the RAM modules - again nothing

As I'm really dependent on my Mac and on Ubuntu I really, really hope someone can help.

Changing the Logicboard is not really an Option for me, as it would cost a lot and the MacBook isn't that brand-new any more (late 2006)

Thank you in advance for your help!

maybe you can try to restore firmware by using this CD:

Thanks for your advice, i already read that but the problem is that my mac doesnt even get that far...

I already sent it to apple and they told me the only way to fix it is to replace the mainboard.

I never expected an Operating System could harm a PC that much, but obviously it can
