Lightbulb stay with ubuntu live 12

    Hi all,
my idea is to have my system portable with me !!!
I mean I need to use ubuntu live and run it from my flash drive every where I go,
    Is this possible?

I will never ask to install as it is alrady installed on my flash drive !!! is this true

I created a folder on my main hard disk to put any additional files or programmes in it which I may run from my live ubuntu,

please understand that I am very new -this is my 1st post here-

so any ideas or advices, folks

    have a nice day,

Have a look at Startup Disk Creator - you'll find it in the launcher menu - just search for startup and it will appear.

If you use that to write your ISO to the flash drive it provides an option at the bottom part of the screen:
When starting up from this disk, documents and settings will be:
    "Stored in reserved extra space"

That will allow you to save your docs etc. on the "live" disk between bootups - just make sure you set a suitable amount of space when creating the flash drive.

Question Re: stay with ubuntu live 12

I used some program to extract the iso ubuntu file on my 8G flash and it ask me if I want Persistence and I choose yes to the maximum amount,

and it works fine, but if I need more space I use my main hard disk

but I know nothing about 'Startup Disk Creator' and never use it, so am I lost or it is the same but with work around?

actullay my question was after this step
I mean am I able to stay on my flash drive live system for ever or I will face limitations and so...?
if this is possible to be permenent solution so is there any advices ???

Thank you so much for replaying me

Ah, OK. The Startup Disk Creator does the same thing - creates a persistence file.

I don't see why you can't use it permanently. I wouldn't like to do that myself as it is slower than an install on the hard drive. Useful for portability though.
