Authentication required for login on wireless connections

Hi all,

I'm admin on my little brother's laptop. He has Mint 12 (with gnome shell). And I've found that whenever anyone but admins try to connect to a wireless connection it prompts you with an authentication required. I tried already to install the gnome-system-tools package in order to get the ubuntu user add/config window that shows the "Connect to wireless and ethernet networks" option but it does NOTHING.
