    Re: How to Sync your Blackberry in Linux

    I have removed the sunbird-sync and added a SyncML on the group.
    I have also opened and account on ScheduleWorld and confiured the xml file with the correct items for this site.

    When I try to synchronize I get:

    Code:
     $ msynctool --sync blackberry
    Synchronizing group "blackberry"
    Member 2 of type barry-sync just connected

    ..hanging forever, no synchro.

    I gave up. Thank you Woitek!

    Re: How to Sync your Blackberry in Linux

    Hi I'm a first time Blackberry user and I've been with Ubuntu now almost a year and a half.

    I got my Blackberry 7250 signed up with Bell here in Canada and it's CDMA. So I have: 1) No SD Card slot 2) no SIM card port and 3) I don't have any e-mail service [this one's not CDMA related]

    I did all of the procedures, downloaded Funambol 3.0.8, set up scheduleworld and the such, but I can't seem to sync with my USB cord. When I list my usb devices it shows "RIM Blackberry" but the computer doesn't recognize it as a separate disk.

    My questions are:

    1) Is there any way to do a straight sync through the USB cable without using OTA syncing. It would make things a hell of a lot easier.

    2) How do I get a CDMA Blackberry to show up as a separate disk on my laptop? I figure once I can do that I can just do a straight exchange of information.

    Thank you.

    GJ

    @Galactic Jack
    I tried to explain the straight sync in my post in this thread. It's quite complicated by now and @saltydog couldn't make it work :/ It works for me, but still ScheduleWorld works better (Tasks sync). You can make backups and restores for sure and browse in the BB using the barry software. Just checkout the articles i mentioned in my post.

    Ok I got it working now. I had to add this to my /etc/fstab

    sudo gedit /etc/fstab

    /dev/shm /media/Blackberry tmpfs defaults 0 0

    Started working for me after this. I think this is the big thing a lot of eople missi n their instructions

    @Galactic

    Doesn't work for me. In my "Computer" window I have a device named "RIM BlackBerry SD", but can't mount it.

    sorry I should have mentionned you have to make the directory first in the /media folder. I know you're a developer so I assume you did this but it's something I often overlook myself too.

    sudo mkdir /media/Blackberry

    Then gedit the fstab and do a restart

    ----------

    It could also be a problem with the drivers. My solution was to install them all. It was only a few hundred KB

    ----------

    Question about Sunbird - what version of the plugin are you using. Because I notice that - especially for gutsy - that the 0.22 version is the one that is necessary. If you have it is it possible to post a .deb version of it [or atleast a link for it] and I will see if it will work on mine.

    .
    No, you didn't overlook. Of course, I first have made the folder in /media!

    But when it is mounted, and the BB plugged in, I cannot browse the BB as the folder is empty

    Ahh ok. The /media/Blackberry worked for me to connect the Blackberry but not to transfer anything yet. I will post any progress I make on it here.
