exif, iptc and xmp data

I know there are multiple programs to check for exif data, but i don't know of any that can check for iptc and xmp data, if there are could anyone suggest some?

also any other information on how to retrieve data would be useful as well

Have a look at Phatch in the Software Center, although it may be an abandoned project it's well regarded.
