    Re: Wayland Live CD

Yeah... THAT shouldn't be happening. I wonder if it's a MESA driver issue with Nouveau?

BTW: I won't recommend actually INSTALLING it... right now its really meant to be a LiveCD because I don't know how updates are going to mess with the files yet. I probably should try to remove the install icon

...I have the build scripts for the QT, Clutter, and GTK toolkits working now, and the nested Xorg server for Wayland... I'm just trying to figure out a way to get the CD to allow users to choose servers at startup. I MIGHT release an ISO if the display selection works after it builds.

    Re: Wayland Live CD

OK. I have the new livecd https://sourceforge.net/projects/reb...atest/download . This one has Wayland. QT, GTK, and Clutter toolkits that have Wayland ports. It also has the rootless X display server for Wayland. I'll try to get a good video of Wayland...

To run Wayland in a tty, you need to run
    Code:
    sudo westoncaller
    .

To move windows, click on them while holding the super (windows) key, as decorations are client side, and the toolkits don't have them yet.

The QT apps and the Clutter apps are located in /usr/local/bin . KDE apps I think need to be recompiled to use the new version of QT.

GTK apps can be run from a Wayland terminal. Not all of them run, but gedit does work. gedit also has a resize handle, so you can try out the performance of resizes.

I don't have the EFL toolkit on it yet.

You can launch the rootless x server by clicking the X.org logo on the Wayland panel. It creates DISPLAY :2, but the windows don't refresh, and draw weird.

EDIT: I now have a video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9x8gXno-P0

Im going to try it on the Dell laptop and maybe install it on the desktop with nVidia card.

    Re: Wayland Live CD

I guess it wasn't meant for me to try wayland, it took a hour to load on my old dell.
You think it would run with the nouveau driver ?

Try rebooting, and then running just westoncaller . It only needs to be launched as root when you are opening it in a tty, and it sounds like you have it silently running in the background seeing that its having trouble with that lockfile.
