What games are people playing on Linux?

    Hi Everyone,

A random question but I am curious to what games people are playing natively on Linux?

I have found quite a few games, actually more than I expected *but* they seem old and out-dated somewhat to the point that nobody is really playing them.

    Excluding Heros of Newerth.

    Any recommendations?

The Sims 3 and all of the expansion packs work great in Wine. It was released in 2009 and is the newest in the Sims series.
The Sims series is the best selling PC game, selling 39 million units of Sims/Sims2/Sims3.

Thank you - Not really into Sims - - The wife use to be a long time ago but she is a windows users. I have installed:

    - FreeCiv <= Installed but I have not ran it yet

    - Alien Arena <= Was not really happy with this, I guess I cannot be torn away from my Unreal Tournament days

    - StarCraft II on Wine *Some reason this isn't working and I will look into this later*

    - PlaneShift <= Just installed this - seems promising

    - Heros of Newerth <= Good game

For native games, don't forget Neverwinter Nights for tons of free RPGing (downloads from Neverwinter Vault) or the astonishing, pricey (but Worth Every Penny) Dominions 3.

The above about Desura is 100% true.

Very nice selection of games - I have used linux since Slackware and never really thought of it as something that can be used to play video games - until now I have been relying on consoles but it is looking promising. certainly a lot has changed.
