Laptop getting stuck booting

I recently upgraded from 10.04 to 11.04 and was planning on updating again to 11.10 but before I did that I wanted to see if my wireless worked. The STA drivers were in the Additional Drivers section and worked but I also found my Nvidia drivers there. I installed them and rebooted but when I logged in, the driver said that it was installed but not in use. I logged out and was going to log in again to see if that fixed the problem but when I tried to logout my computer got stuck. I turned off my computer and rebooted it and now it gets stuck saying something about Stopping the bootsplash or something. Can someone please tell me what is going on?

Download Ubuntu 11.10 and make a fresh install, upgrades are often a waste of time when you can make a fresh install within 2 hours.

I used Universal USB installer to make a flash drive and booted my computer into it but it just sys SYSLINUX and then some stuff and the little cursor just blinks and it never goes past that point. What do I do?

If I understand, you're trying to boot from a USB?

Edit: I'm up too late. I was going to suggest, if you were trying to boot from a CD or USB, that you confirm the integrity of the ISO (checksum). I was also going to (unhelpfully I suppose) second what Ringi wrote: All else being equal, do a fresh install.
