    Applets in Ubuntu 11.10

Has anyone worked out how to run applets like Checkgmail, Sensors etc in Ubuntu 11.10? If so, would appreciate if you can outline what needs to be done to make these applets run under 11.10.

    Thanks.

Just found out that there is an app called Mail Notification which will do what CheckGmail does but just wondering how to run applets designed to continuously monitor temperature etc?

you can run temp monitoring with lm-sensors, but the indicator app of it is too small if you ask me..so a really elegant way is to use conky for monitoring things like cpu load, temps, and others. You can lookup very good scripts on the forums for conky

@Basher101 - thanks for the tip. Conky certainly looks flash and I got one version going without any problems.
